The world of water damage restoration can be pretty confusing sometimes. Water damage specialists use a lot of complex and expensive tools and each tool has a purpose. This article will help you understand what these tools are, and why the experts use them.

The desiccant dehumidifier is one of the most important tools water damage specialists use. It is comprised of four major components: the component that holds the desiccant material, a fan to move air through the desiccant holder (to be dehumidified), a heater to heat air that will dry the desiccant material, and another fan to move the air that is to dry the desiccant through the desiccant holder. When you have a flood, there is water, and a desiccant dehumidifier gets rid of that water. A dehumidifier is used to remove water from cement floors, insulation, carpets, interior paints, drywall, basements, and plaster. Say, for example, your sink springs a leak and floods the entire kitchen. Yes, you can pump all of that water out fairly easily; however, any porous surface (wood, drywall, cement, insulation, carpet, etc.) that the water was touching has now soaked up that water and has become saturated with it. There is no way to completely get rid of that water damage unless you use a dehumidifier.

An infrared moisture meter is another very important tool that allows specialists to assess the severity of the problem. An infrared moisture meter determines the moisture content in bulk solids by using infrared light. This is crucial because often times water damage repair is not just as easy as fixing the visible damage. You often have hidden complications that need to be taken care of as well.

Another tool that is crucial is the air mover. Air movers (often called “carpet dryers” or “blowers”) are designed to speed up the carpet drying process. They are placed incrementally around the carpet and lift the carpet off of the ground to where it is resting on a bed of air. They dry the carpet a lot quicker than if you just let the carpet air dry. This is important to ensure timely water removal.

And last but not least, repair technicians may use a heavy (80-100 lb.) roller. The roller is used to press the carpet and squeeze it out removing any remaining water after the pump. This process is done before the air movers are utilized to dry the carpet out as much as possible. It is a crucial step to having dry carpets because in order to dry the carpet out with the air movers, the carpet must be near-dry so that it is not too heavy for air to lift.

You now have a better understanding of what tools the technicians use to remove water damage and how they work. Yes, it is very complicated, but specialists use this equipment everyday; so you can sit back, relax, and wait for your water damage to be remediated!

Building and managing radio controlled projects involve a lot of time and hard work. They require so much information prior in detail when you are fixing the pieces together or cutting out the pieces to assemble. People who pursue this as their hobby possess different kinds of tools to assemble such radio controlled projects. First-time builders need a few materials which are quite handy while working on the project. I shall name a few tools but you have got to gather more information and get better tools to satisfy personal needs.

Finding raw materials is the first step in building radio controlled projects. Raw material for radio controlled projects is mainly wood. Other materials can be used as the need suggests. Materials stronger, durable and long-lasting are something everyone would want. Balsa wood is a popular choice, mainly for toy helicopters and airplanes. Balsa wood is extremely light and maintains decent amount of solidity. An airplane frame can be carved out of it with a minimum amount of flex. Larger airplane models or any other vehicle, though, cannot be made using balsa as it’s too soft. In such cases, different wood material can be used.

Making radio and motor equipments is the second and toughest part. An enthusiastic hobbyist or an aspiring engineer can find it a little easier to make radio and motor equipments with various components. Buying these is quite simple as these components are available for motor and radio systems separately. In fact, you will have to combat with a lot of electronic gadgets and parts such as transistors, resistors, bread board and soldering of these would be quite daunting. People sometimes go for ready-made transmitters or motors which have been assembled and given to them. Now it’s just a matter of gluing them at the right places. There is nothing wrong in buying them pre-assembled. It, in fact, saves a lot of time.

There are a few important tools which have to be eternally present in a tool kit of a hobbyist. One such is an old X-Acto Knife. Any project would need this knife to shave off bumps or a few extra pieces of plastic or wood here and there. These knives will have usage anywhere in these projects; hence it is a very essential tool. For people who have jus started, this knife can help for cutting outlines from thin pieces of wood. It can also cut notches to keep the electrical equipments steady or to attain a proper shape you have in mind. It is available in every local hobby store or a home improvement store. It costs only a few dollars.

Based on the material which has been used to make the radio controlled project, the particular glue has to be chosen to gel it together. Glue is a necessary tool and there are numerous choices for glue. One can use superglue, epoxy, and wood glue. Each of these glues can hold the parts fairly sturdy. The glues are chosen based on the material used and also what type of gluing up is needed for the parts. Some might need to be stuck tightly while some can be just fastened. If your project involves building submarines or just remote control boats, you have to consider glues which are waterproof to prevent any damage to the electrical components used in the project. Sealing putty or spray-on sealants for cracks can be used to prevent the wood from soaking.

At some point of the construction, you will have the need to cut woods into segments and piecing them together for the final product. Though a handsaw could be used, it is not the best choice. A table saw will be enough for handling large pieces but a tool known as the Dremel tool is the best for all these. They resemble electric toothbrushes and have rotating heads that can grind the balsa wood away in matter of time. They are used for shaping up a piece of wood or drilling holes for wiring. They provide maximum accuracy.

Most beginners aren’t sure which way to turn when trying to find the best wood working tools for their needs. They often wonder which are the best out on the market. The professionals however can spit out the names in a moment’s notice of all of the best tools out there, or at least what they prefer. The fact of the matter is that there’s a lot of quality woodworking tools and brand names out there and soon you’ll have your favorites to recommend as well.

Some widely loved brands of tools include the Sears Craftsman collection, Rockwell Tools, Rigid, and Hitachi. You probably best know the Sears brand and have not only a number of your own, but a number of those handed down from your father or grandfather as well. The Craftsman Brand has to be well known as quality tools because of just that, they are quality, as well as the fact they’re widely available. They’re endorsed heavily by professionals as well as celebrities, and are great for the homeowner and his weekend projects.

You’re more likely to find the other brands such as Rockwell and Hitachi in the more professional workshops. These are bought from all of the retailers that cater to this group of professional contractors, or the serious guys who do all of their own projects at home. This is not to say that you can’t find these top brands in the major home improvement centers around, but often you must be a contractor to be admitted into the secure area of these stores.

Now if you’re looking to save a buck or two, discount woodworking tools can be bought at specialty shops like Rockler. These stores can be found throughout the US, and offer classes as well, so that you can learn woodworking right there in their stores. To be technical, the “hardware” store is more the atmosphere of the serious woodworker than the gigantic home improvement centers are.

A workshop equipped for the most basics of woodworking will have some of the basic and standard tools of the trade. For instance you likely find a table saw, various sanders, wood glue as well as hammers and finishing nails. A number of hand or power tools are also needed such as a drills, a driver with several bits and don’t forget the chisels for fine detailing. A more elaborate woodworking shop will likely include a miter saw, a scroll saw, plus a router for constructing the finer details.

The more modern woodworking shops also have a plethora of cordless tools. The newer lines of cordless tools are equipped with longer lasting batteries that make them much more efficient, as well as giving them much more power for even the heaviest of jobs that need more torque.

Be sure that your workshop has all of the tools that you’ll need for the next project that you decide to tackle. Be sure to use plans that are available online and in books so that you’ll be readily equipped with all of your tools beforehand.

Focusing recent findings in hand tools, Kurt Schefken wrote first and foremost for http://www.insidewoodworking.com . You might find out more about his writings on woodworking tools over at http://www.insidewoodworking.com .

As medical technology is ever changing and new equipment enhancements are developed, renting equipment is a logical choice for a variety of reasons. Medical equipment leasing can keep their balance sheet intact, as monthly equipment lease payments can be classified as operating expenses. This would also allow the provider to benefit from tax deductibility.

According to industry research, over $3 billion of medical equipment was leased last year in the United States. In its simplest form, the lessor purchases the equipment and then rents it to the lessee. At the end of the lease term, the lessee has the following choices:

Buy the equipment

Re-lease the equipment

Rent new equipment

Return the equipment

The worth of medical equipment does not come from owning it, but rather from the results of its use. With renting, there are no large down payments so the lessee’s capital reserve remains intact. Equipment is also more easily attainable than from bank financing, which requires extensive documentation and even personal guarantees. Most any piece of medical equipment can be leased, including CT scans, surgery tools, lab testing machines, x-ray machines, heart rate monitors, and sonograms.

Other benefits from leasing medical equipment:

Flexibility: As the provider’s practice grows and equipment technology increases, leasing allows for the owner to easily add-on or upgrade their package. It is important to build in upgrade features at the inception of the lease. Also, installation and maintenance, and other services can be added to the lease.

Speed: As opposed to bank financing, leasing can provide the needed equipment in a matter of days. Typically, a one-page lease agreement is executed and approval can occur in a matter of hours. It often takes bank loan committees several weeks to approve an equipment loan.

Tax Advantages: An operating lease (also known as a true lease) generally allows the lessee to write off 100% of lease payments made during the year. The equipment write-off is tied to the lease term, which can be shorter than IRS depreciation schedules, resulting in larger tax deductions each year. The deduction is also the same every year, which simplifies budgeting.

Keeping equipment at a state of the art level: As mentioned previously, structuring an add-on or upgrade provision in the lease is critical due to the ever-changing technological advances in healthcare. Adding these clauses in the lease agreement lessens the peril of being stuck with outdated equipment. Maintains capital reserves: Leasing allows you to buy the equipment and tools you need today while spreading out all the payments over time. This provides you with a cash reserve for day to day expenses. Since a true lease is not a long term obligation, it will not show up on your balance sheet, so the company will be more attractive to a conventional lender when or if one is needed in the future.

A physician starting a practice or even acquiring one can benefit from entering into an equipment lease. Purchasing a medical equipment package can cost several hundred thousand dollars and put the provider behind the eight ball from the very beginning. Not only can medical equipment leasing alleviate that dilemma; it also provides budgetary, tax, cash flow, and upgrade benefits that can allow the provider to flourish for years to come.

What constitutes the minimum equipment that recreational divers should have and use on every dive? To some degree, this will be a factor of the environment and the purpose of the dive. Divers in cold water require more thermal protection than divers in warm water. Divers engaged in activities, such as underwater photography or night, deep, wreck, ice or cavern diving, require additional specialized diving equipment that sight-seeing divers in shallow, open water may not need.

There is, however, certain equipment items that most experts believe recreational divers should have and use on every dive. The following is a brief overview of each of these items.

Mask, Snorkel and Fins

These are the most basic of all diving equipment. Masks allow divers to see underwater without distortion. Snorkels enable them to breathe at the surface without having to lift their heads from the water or use air from their tanks. Fins allow divers to move through the water with far great efficiency.

Exposure Protection

Divers require protection from both heat loss and abrasion. Heat loss is of particular importance, because water conducts heat away from the body 20 to 25 times faster than air of the same temperature. Divers may become dangerously chilled in water that would seem uncomfortably warm, if it were air.

Thermal and abrasion protection may range from lightweight wet suits for warm-water diving to thick, highly insulative dry suits for cold water diving. Most divers also use some form of hand and foot protection. Wet suit boots are the most common form of foot protection. Hand protection may range from thick wet-suit mitts or light weight gloves.

Weight Systems

Depending on a diver’s natural buoyancy and the buoyancy of his equipment, he may need to use some form of weight system to offset excess buoyancy. The most common type of weighting is a weight belt, although general options are available.

Scuba Systems

Modern scuba systems integrate several components, including primary and alternate air sources, buoyancy-control devices (BCD’s) and instrumentation.

Air Sources

A diver’s primary air source consists of a cylinder of compressed air and a two-stage regulator that reduces this air to the same pressure as the surrounding water. The most common form of alternate air source is an additional regulator second stage, similar to the one the diver normally breathes from. This extra second stage is for sharing with other divers who may run low, or out, of air.

Buoyancy-control Devices

A diver’s buoyancy-control device (or BCD) is used for two purposes. When inflated on the surface, it allows the diver to rest or swim comfortably without having to struggle to keep his head above water. Under water, the BCD may be partially inflated to offset any decrease in buoyancy caused by compression of the diver’s exposure suit during descent.

Gauges

The minimal instrumentation with which every diver should be equipped with includes:

a means of monitoring air supply

an accurate means of determining depth

a means of measuring the time spent under water

I would also recommend that each diver have and use an underwater compass. This not only makes it easier for the diver to navigate, it also helps eliminate the need for long, tiring surface swims at the end of a dive.

Knife or Tool

Although the risk of becoming entangled under water is slight, it is recommended that all divers equip themselves with some form of cutting tool. Depending on its design, this tool may also be used for prying and measuring.

Log Book

Because certification cards only establish that, at one point in time, a diver met the minimum requirements for certification at that level, divers record their dives in log books. Log books provide a tangible record of the depth and breadth of a diver’s experience. An increasing number of dive resorts and charter operations require that divers present both certification card and a log book before they will provide diving service.

Slate

The ability to communicate under water using hand signals is limited. So, to convey more-complex messages to one another, divers use specially designed underwater slates.

Using slates may eliminate the need to surface in order to talk and can add the convenience and enjoyment of the dive.

There is a wide range of handheld hydraulic and pneumatic construction equipment available for use in breaking pavement and rock, drilling and sandblasting. These include pick and demolition hammers, light, medium and heavy breakers, rock drills, cut-off saws, core drills, water pumps, ground rod drivers, post drivers and post hole borers.

The use of air compression for construction tools is very convenient because they will normally use the energy of compressed air as opposed to electricity. Of course, when using a pneumatic power tool, you will need an air compressor. An air compressor is quite a big, loud piece of equipment and when you are using it you will need to wear safety glasses, ear muffs, safety gloves and a hard hat. Most air compressors will run on diesel, and basic maintenance checks should always be conducted before operation. The power of compressed air can be dangerous, and caution must always be adhered when an air compressor is in use.

There are strict safety rules to abide by when using pneumatic power tools. It is important to conduct inspections before operating the tool in question. The air hose must be checked for cracks or holes, and if anything suspicious is found, the hose must be replaced immediately. Before you connect the air hose to the air compression outlet, open the valve. You will want to be sure that the air is flowing smoothly and strongly. After doing this connect the tool’s hose to the outlet and then ensure that the hose is clear of any water or foreign objects before you connect the hose to the power tool. When doing this do not point the hose at another person, because the force of the air is dangerous. Remember to always turn the valve off at the outlet first before you disconnect the hose.

Air breakers are designed for general demolition, and are probably one of the most popular pneumatic power tools on the market. An air breaker will be used to break medium and hard materials such as concrete and asphalt. Prior to operation of an air breaker, you must always check that all parts are securely fastened. The hoses and connections will then be checked for possible damage or leakage. The breakers shank must be greased to ensure that it glides smoothly through the material you are wishing to break. Lastly you must check the built in lubricator for air oil. Always be careful to ensure that the air supply is off before you remove the oil plug, because if you do not, you could end up with oil squirting in your face!

A rock drill is probably another popular pneumatic power tool you will come across if you are using an air compressor to power your construction work. A rock drill is designed for heavier jobs such as bench and secondary drilling, and can also be used for drilling for smooth blasting. There are some rock drills that can drill holes up to 6 meters deep! Before operation of this tool, besides the normal hose checks, you must ascertain that the drill steel’s flushing hole is clean and open. The lubricator must be full, and remember that the air supply must be off when conducting this inspection!

As mentioned before, there are a plethora of pneumatic air tools for you to use as an alternative to those powered by electricity. Safety clothing must be worn at all times and a pneumatic power tool must never be used by someone who has no experience or training in this area.
