Just like the “cherry on top of the cake” table lamps are the finishing touch to an interior. For the eclectic and for the classic interior design, the ultimate is the antique lamp.

Interestingly, antique or period lamps offer a much greater range of shapes, designs and styles than the range offered by contemporary table lamps, which inevitably take on a rather uniform look, in vogue with current style.

The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co offers a range of over 100 antique lamps. Each lamp is individually designed, producing a unique table lamp in every sense of the word.

The company offers antique and decorative English, French, Chinese and Japanese lamps in a range of porcelain, glass, bronze, cinnabar, treen, marble, pottery and even papier-mâché!

Sophisticated interior design requires thoughtful and subtle lighting. To over or under light a beautiful interior is to detract from the finished effect. The great benefit of table lamp lighting is that it is easily portable, allowing for lighting to be repositioned producing the most satisfactory outcome.

Antique and decorative lighting is primarily a personal choice, from the perfectly understated white lamp, through to the highly decorative, four coloured Japanese Imari lamps, all available from the decorative lighting specialists, The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co.

Please remember that The Antique & Vintage Table Lamp Co, ship lamps,

Maurice Robertson, principal of The Antique and Vintage Table Lamp Co , has had a lifetime’s association with antique porcelain and pottery. He is well known as a regular lecturer to ceramic societies, fine arts societies, he also consults to leading auction houses and has been a sought after contributor to magazines and journals with articles on antique ceramics.

He has extending his ceramics expertise into the quality table lamps seen on the company’s site, he is well known to local and international interior designers who have included many of his table lamps in their projects and has also supplied items of national interest to the official Sydney residence of the Australian Prime Minister.

Remember, table lamps are not meant to illuminate a room as per overhead lighting, but are selectively placed to provide a softer pool of light accentuating and complimenting the décor and “feeling” of a room.

Product Description
Suzanne Kasler is known for her classically inspired rooms, pretty palettes, and comfortable spaces. She brings Southern charm, European sensibility, and a respect for architectural details to her interiors. Her neutral palette, spiced with hits of color, creates warm spaces that are elegant yet inviting. Inspired by fashion, Kasler uses a scarf as a throw, adds grosgrain or satin banding to the bottom of a chair cover, accents draperies with Chanel-like piped borders, or embellishes a bed frame with delicate handpainted patterns. It is these exquisite haute couture details that drive her design aesthetic. Kasler’s mélange of antiques, midcentury pieces, and modern furniture makes her layered interiors attractive and livable. Lavishly illustrated, this beautiful volume showcases a range of Kasler’s projects, from a luxurious Georgian mansion in Atlanta’s Buckhead to a sophisticated farmhouse in Tennessee and a beach house in Watersound, Florida. Offering a wealth of original design ideas that are refreshing and full of verve, Inspired Interiors is a welcome addition to any library of interior design books.

While it may be nice to have a pretty, summery look in your living room during the hotter months and even into fall, there comes a point when you simply can`t deny that winter has set in. The bright florals and light colors of summer need to go and it`s time to bring in the cozy feeling of a winter look. If you aren`t sure just how to do that, here are a few interior design ideas for you.

1. Pay attention to color. We use color everywhere in our lives and it affects nearly everything we do. For the cooler months, darker, richer hues are ideal for creating a cozy, winter look in your living room. Rich browns, burgundies and dark greens and ochres are perfect for making it feel warmer inside, but you don`t have to run out and buy new furniture. Slip covers make it very simple to change the palette of a room, as do curtains.

2. Use plenty of texture. Clean and smooth is the way to go for hot weather, but once the snow starts to fall, it`s time to get nice and warm and fuzzy. Texture adds a lot of personality to a room and you can use as little or as much as you like, depending on your taste. This can mean anything from throwing a couple of warm fleece blankets over the back of the sofa or adding some fuzzy pillows to bringing out extra throw rugs and hanging up heavy oil paintings. Thicker curtains can also help warm a room.

3. Bring the outdoors in. Just because it`s cold and wet outside doesn`t mean there`s nothing interesting in nature. Try creating an arrangement of stark branches to place on the mantel, or find seasonal plants that can be brought indoors during this time. Like you would decorate with flowers in the spring, do the same with what you have at hand during the winter, albeit less colorful. A tall collection of reeds or decorative dried grass, for example, can lend a natural winter feel to a living room and keeps things from getting too bare.

4. Literally warm it up. If you have a fireplace, real or electric, now is a great time to fire it up. Keeping things cozy and warm with flames automatically makes the living room a place that feels like a retreat from the blustery world outside. But even if you don`t happen to have a fireplace, you can still create that homey feeling with candles. One or three candles (odd numbers tend to look better) set on the sideboard or on a low shelf are perfect if you just want to add a touch of warmth, but for a real comfort zone, try lighting a dozen or more around the room.

5. Change the decorations. Flat surfaces such as mantels, windowsills, coffee tables and shelves offer a multitude of decorating possibilities that we often forget to alter. What works for a summer layout isn`t going to work for winter, so take a good look at the decorations and centerpieces that you have and make some seasonal changes. Winter scenes make a great alternative to floral paintings, while crystal jars and such are a great way to decorate a shelf.

Transitioning from a summer look to a winter one with these interior design tips should be a piece of cake. Think about what makes a room feel warm and inviting and then add that to your living room to create the perfect hideaway for cold, wintry days.

In my interior designer practice, I’m often asked by my clients “What’s my style?” They’re having a hard time identifying their own style, and they turn to me as an expert. I always tell them, “The style you like is your style!”

What exactly does that mean? It simply means that, just as you are unique, so is your style. Your style is a reflection of your own taste, lifestyle, and history.

Your style will undoubtedly evolve as you mature. The style you like when you’re in your 50s will probably be different from the style you liked in your 20s. That’s normal. As we change, our tastes change too. We shouldn’t fight the changes, we should embrace them.

You might find that you like a combination of typical interior design styles, and that may seem confusing. But there’s nothing wrong with combining styles. We’re no longer locked into just one style or another. The most important thing is to relax, have fun and enjoy designing your home.

At one time, it was common to select either a traditional, modern, contemporary, art décor or other defined style. But it’s not so cut-and-dried today, because of the many new styles, including eclectic and shabby chic.

In fact, eclectic and shabby chic styles are great examples of styles that were created without any of the old established boundaries. They were born out of the need for new individual looks ─ a buffet of different styles all mixed together to create new styles.

Of course, all of these styles can make selecting your style more confusing. And sometimes it’s just too difficult to choose just one style. That’s okay. You can break the rules and still achieve your design goals.

So, remember, choose your style wisely, and take time to decide. But never forget-it is YOUR style!

If you are on a tight budget you may think it is impossible to create something stunning along the lines of the bathroom interior designs that are always paraded in the glossy magazines on the newsstand.

But you would be wrong. There are many ways to use whatever cash you have creatively in order to transform your bathroom into something wonderful. Use the ideas that interior designs give you to create your own bathing heaven.

Choose Your Style

We tend to spend a lot of time in our bathrooms, so they need to be relaxing and calming places to be. Interior designs employ many creative ideas to make the most of what can be a small space, but you don’t need to spend the same fortune to achieve a similar effect.

The best way to make the most of a small budget is to take the minimalist route. Along these lines can look sleek and inviting, and it can work out much cheaper to keep the basic elements simple and then accessories to finish off the look.

If you are thinking of tiling, you could be very bold and tile everything in white. Not only are these the cheapest tiles you can buy – they are often available in bulk trade packs for even less money – they can add a pure Zen feel, which can then be accessorized with candles and simple ornaments.

The other advantage of opting for white is that you can change the color scheme of your bathroom quickly and easily by changing the accessories. Interior designs for bathrooms often adopt similar tricks to enable quick changes to the feel and look of a room.

Using Ideas From Magazines

Whatever accessories you’d like to use, take a look at the bathroom interior designs in magazines, showrooms and on the Internet before buying anything. There are usually much cheaper versions available of many of the objects on display, and some shopping around should reveal some good alternatives to use.

It’s becoming very popular nowadays to turn our bathrooms from a place to wash into a retreat in which we can rest and recuperate, soaking ourselves in a bath of bubbles before emerging reinvigorated. Perhaps the most soothing thing of all is the knowledge that we don’t need to spend a fortune to create a calm oasis in our own homes. http://www.snslamps.com

Your living room is the room in your home where most of the living takes place. It is where your family gathers to watch television, read, and generally unwind and relax after a busy day.

Your living room is the room in your home where most of the living takes place. It is where your family gathers to watch television, read, and generally unwind and relax after a busy day. It’s also the room where you and your co-employees are gathered during parties and holidays.

You are struggling to come up with interior design ideas and strategies for it, and you worry that your budget is not big enough to do the job justice. However, with a little planning, creativity, and ingenuity, your living room can be more relaxing environment where you can unwind or entertain with comfort and ease. You can find available interior decorating ideas in local stores or you can browse the net for it. You may also consult for feng shui expert to suggest for feng shui color design that would be best for your living room.

Feng shui is not only for proper positioning but for appropriate colors as well. And though, many do not believe in this practice, some would say that they are able to connect fung shui ideas to their benefits experienced. Yes, appropriate color selection, right furniture positioning really provide pleasant feeling when you stay at home.

Utilize your furniture arrangement to define functional areas. Strategically placed floor rugs, lamps and furniture can create zones in your home. You can redesign your seating to take advantage of a focal point, such as a television, picture window or a fireplace. You can also find affordable part pieces that combine functional storage with fashionable decorating lines. Tables with drawers and shelves add valuable, and a simple desk doubles for homework, household management, bill paying and filing, and other related tasks.

Select neutral colors and accent with colorful textured throws, rugs, and other decorative and artistic components. Keep the harmony of your room in perspective. You do not want to overwhelm a small room with large, bold pieces, nor do you want to place smaller, neutral pieces in a large room where they will get lost.

If you are working with used furniture, try distracting from worn upholstery or a faded finish by using colorful toss pillows or table runners. Bright color curtains can distract from a faded carpet and breathe new life into an old room.

Whatever interior decorating idea you may have, whether you consult a feng shui expert or do the interior design tasks on your own, do it with what is pleasing and relaxing for your heart. It is not really a necessity to buy expensive accessories, what matters is, you are best served by the designs you have.

Interior design is an art of putting pieces together to manipulate the architectural integrity of the interior spaces. It is concerned with anything and everything that is found inside a space and that includes the doors, walls, textures, windows, finishes, furnishings, light, and furniture. Most of these elements, if not all, are used by interior designers in creating a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing space. The interior design of a house gives it either a warm and inviting setting or a cold and distant ambience. While there are many factors which contribute to a room’s atmosphere, the way the furniture is arranged or where the furniture is placed is also a great factor to influence the mood of the room.

Squeezing in all the furniture into your rooms is a lot more challenging than buying them. Sometimes furniture cannot be placed in a certain spot due to a door that swings the wrong way, a window that is too low, and many other factors, which will challenge your furniture-arranging skills.

A Short Guide on How to Arrange Furniture

It must be remembered there are no hard and fast rules in interior decoration, much more on furniture arrangement. But there are some things that may help one in arranging the furniture to give the room some enjoyable spaces where the whole family or guests will feel relaxed.

1. Good furniture arrangement starts with evaluating the area of the room or house as well as the furniture inside the room. Consider the size of the room first before buying or putting in the furniture. Measure the room or get the dimension of the room. This will give you an idea of the size of the furniture that you will put. By using one’s common sense, the furniture must fit into the available space.

2. When you plan to arrange a room or decorate a room, always take into consideration the person or persons who will use the room, the number of people who use the room, and how often these people enter or stay inside the room.

3. Determine which particular area of the room catches your immediate attention. This area will be the focal point of your room. Discover some dramatic elements in it. Let us say, the focal point of your bedroom is your large window which gives you a beautiful view of the beach, then you must put your primary piece – in this case, your bed – to that side or if not, put your bed to the other side and let it face the window in such a way that you get to have a good view of the beach outside.

4. Consider the color of your room when choosing the furniture. When the color of your paint is dark, get light-colored furniture to make the room look brighter.

5. Create a visual motion and excitement. Add furniture and furnishings that comes in two to have a symmetrical balance or asymmetry. Asymmetry refers to an imbalance such as two candles of somewhat different sizes next to each other. Symmetry is very restful while asymmetry is used to add visual motion and excitement.

If you wish to make your house or room more relaxing and beautiful, the guide above may just be all the help you needed.

When you’ve bought a new home or are having one made, you are going to have to decide what type of flooring you want in it. You will choose from wood, ceramic tile or hardwood and you will also choose the color and style. If you know the colors you want your house painted in and the style you want it decorated in, it will be best to match your flooring accordingly. But, if you aren’t sure yet, choose neutral flooring that will accommodate any style and color.

Choosing your flooring is a big decision because it can make or break your house. If you’re afraid of making this decision on your own, hire a professional. An interior designer will gladly help you decide what is right for you and your home by finding out your individual likes and dislikes.

You can find an interior designer for your flooring needs in just about any city world wide. If you don’t know of one on your own, then ask for a recommendation from someone you know or look for one in the phone book. You will be able to tell if the interior designer has the same vision that you do or not.

Once you’ve decided on the flooring, you can keep the interior designer around or you can do the rest on your own. You will know right away if you still need the help of a professional or not by how hard it is for you. Those without an eye for design should consult an interior designer if they want their house to look beautifully decorated. Some people do have a natural talent for decorating and won’t need any help at all. It all depends on your personality and what you’re good at. So, if you know what type of flooring, drapes, colors and furniture go best together, you should save yourself the money and do it all on your own!
